#1 Always using face wipes

We can’t deny the convenience that face wipes offer, especially when you’re simply too exhausted from a night out. But using face wipes will have you pulling and tugging at your skin to remove makeup, which isn’t good for your skin in the long run.

Getting into the habit of a proper cleansing regime is important, especially if it’s clear, healthy skin you’re after. If you don’t cleanse the right way, no amount of serums or moisturiser will be able to their job right and give you the effect you want.

Solution: Find a gentle cleanser that doubles up as a makeup remover and a face wash at the same time so you save yourself time without compromising on a good clean for your skin.

#2 Not using the right water temperature

Using water that is too hot to wash your face can cause irritation and even dry out your skin. Going the other extreme of using ice cold water can also be just as detrimental for your skin.

Solution: Simply using lukewarm water will be ideal for washing your face.

#3 Keeping your makeup on during your work out

Having makeup on and an additional layer of sweat and grime over it just exacerbates clogged pores with breakouts just waiting to happen. Treat your workouts as the ideal time to detox your skin by literally giving it a chance to sweat it out.

Solution: Dedicate a few minutes prior to a workout to clean off all your makeup and show off your post workout glow. Your skin will thank you for this!

#4 Washing your face too fast

Your face like the rest of your body deserves some TLC. Take the time to massage the cleanser into your face, and do not neglect areas like your hairline, chin and nose. Spend a little more time where you notice whiteheads and blackheads on your skin to really be sure you get all the gunk out.

Solution: Using an electronic face cleansing brush that not only deep cleanses with its soft bristles, the timer on it will ensure you spend enough time cleaning each part of your face.

#5 Over or under exfoliating

Besides cleansing and using sunscreen, exfoliation should another priority when it comes to skincare. Without exfoliation, your skin will be clogged, giving off a dull appearance and the chances of acne and dryness increase too. With dead skin cells in the way, you aren’t giving your othere skincare products a fair chance on working its magic on your skin.

On the other hand if you were to exfoliate too much, skin is likely to become irritated and inflamed.

Solution: Exfoliate once or twice a week and your skin will be reaping the benefits over time.
