Sustainability

With what’s happening globally, eco-friendliness is slowly but surely creating a huge impact in the way we purchase and consume products, skincare included. Packaging will continue to be a huge conversation among brands, where sustainability is key. Rather than it becoming a differentiating factor among brands, sustainability will become standard protocol, be it using recycled products or launching bio-degradable sheet masks and makeup remover wipes.

Electrolytes

No longer limited to the ingredient found in your favourite sports drinks and coconut water, electrolytes is making its way to your skincare products. Electrolytes essentially contain calcium, potassium and magnesium which have been found to work well in maintaining skin’s optimal function and hydration levels.

Ampoules

Ampoules containing small doses of active ingredients are gaining popularity, as such small packing minimises exposure to sunlight and air, preserving the potency of the product. This might sound contradictory to the first point of creating packaging in a more sustainable fashion, but it is important to note that many ampoules nowadays are made of glass which is recyclable.

Lip treatments

A much-neglected component of the face, 2020 is the year to be giving more TLC to your lips. After all your lips are skin too and doesn’t contain as many oil glands compared to other parts of your face.

Niacinamide

Although niacinamide is not a new ingredient, it has as many, if not more, skin boosting benefits compared to Vitamin C.

We love niacinamide for its ability minimise large pores while stimulating collagen and new tissue production (here’s to youthful skin!). It is also known to fight off free radical and evening out skin tone. Best of all? It’s uber friendly towards all skin types without causing any sensitivity.
