The essential skincare that every guy needs

When they say men are from Mars and women are from Venus, this couldn’t be more true when it comes to skincare. Most women would have their skincare routine down pat, be it a simple 3-step routine or a complex Korean-inspired 20-step skincare routine.

Men on the other hand seem happy to use the same bar of soap they use for their body on their face. That’s hardly a skincare routine by anyone’s books.

Fact: everyone needs a skincare routine. That means men aren’t exempted from one. By making little changes such as these, you’ll reap the benefits in years to come and we all know you feel good when you look good.

So here’s a basic skincare routine every guy needs and we promise it won’t take up more than 10 minutes.

#1 Cleanser

Choose a face cleanser that’s right for your skin type. Be it dry, normal or oily, it’d be prudent to select the right cleanser so that your skin won’t feel too tight or too oily.  Just as you would brush your teeth in the mornings and in the evenings, wash your face twice a day. One it feels nice to start your day with a clean face and secondly, washing it in the evening removes all the build up of pollution, dirt and gunk from the day.

#2 Serum

Most men may not have heard of this word before but it simply refers to a light lotion you apply to your skin post cleanse and / or shaving to repair any forms of skin damage. Depending on your concerns, there’s a serum out there for you.

If you are concerned about protecting your skin from daily pollution and UV damage, a Vitamin C serum would be right up your alley. If you’re concerned about lines and wrinkles, look for a Vitamin A serum.

#3 Moisturise and protect

In the mornings following your serum application, apply a layer of sunscreen with at least SPF 30 on too. If you think sun protection is reserved for the beach only, you’d be deadly wrong. Our skin is exposed to the sun on a daily basis and without protection will cause sun damage and result in your skin aging faster.

In the evenings, instead of sunscreen, treat your skin to a gentle moisturizer to keep your skin in prime condition.
