5 beauty mistakes you need to stop right now!

#1 Over washing your face

We all love a good clean and nothing says more about a clean face than washing it as much as want to, right? Wrong.

It’s true cleansing or washing your face is first and foremost in every skincare routine, overwashing it on the other hand is not. As we age, our skin gets drier and if you don’t already know, water despite its hydrating properties can dry out the skin too. Dry skin is not a good look if you ask me.

Pro tip: Wash your face not more than twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Stick to a mild, gentle cleanser and let your natural skin oils do what it’s supposed to do for your skin – keeping it supple.

#2 Applying makeup on dry skin

Another skincare no-no is applying makeup on dry skin, which will only exacerbate the appearance of dull, cracked, aging skin.

Pro tip: Having a good foundation to layer your makeup over is key for a flawless look. Be sure to moisturise your skin well before applying any makeup And just because you think you have oily skin, don’t think you can skip moisturiser. Just find one that’s well suited for your skin type.. Both your skin and Instagram pictures will be thanking you for this.

#3 Too much foundation

When it comes to foundation, we should always go with less is more. Too much foundation and your makeup will look cakey. While it’s important to find the right shade for your skin  (so you don’t end up looking like your face doesn’t belong to your body), you need to pay attention to the blending technique too so it looks seamless and flawless on your skin. The idea is not to make it so obvious that you’re wearing some.

#5 Too much glitter

We all love a little shimmer and glitter over the festivities but no one wants to look like a disco ball 24/7. Take glitter a notch down and just a little goes a long way.

Pro tip: Keep it for really special occasions and even then, just a smidgen is more than enough. Not the entire face or eyelids!
